Introduction-

Face yoga, or facial exercise, is one of the non invasive ways to improve ones appearance and wellness. These are a potential natural alternative to Botox, fillers, skincare products, and other cosmetic treatments.

Skin aging is influenced by exogenous and endogenous factors. Genetics, hormones, cellular and metabolic processes constitute internal factors whereas chronic light exposure, radiation, toxins, chemicals, pollution constitute external factors.

3 primary structural components of the dermis are collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans (GAG) are reduced in aging skin. Anti ageing therapies target these components.

What is face yoga?

Face yoga combines facial exercises and facial massage techniques that target your facial muscles, skin, and lymphatic system.

By strengthening specific facial muscles, you can sculpt your jawline, decrease face puffiness, and improve overall skin tightness. Also by massaging your face, you may improve your skin’s blood circulation. This helps to promote collagen.

Benefits of the face yoga method-

Although the exact efficacy is unknown, it is a well established fact that muscle activity promotes collagen and elastin production. By improving underlying muscle growth, exercises help in improving the facial appearance.

The following effects can be seen-

  • Improvement in cheek fullness
  • Improved the volume of upper lip, cheeks, and jawline
  • Decreasing the appearance of wrinkles
  • Toning your face
  • Improving facial aging

Bio molecular effects-

  • improves antioxidant status by modulating expression of glutathione peroxidase, catalase, etc
  • causes better stress response
  • promotes better immune functioning
  • reduces expression of inflammatory markers

Other effects-

  • TMJ pain
  • Hemifacial spasms
  • Bell’s palsy

How to do face yoga exercises–

While performing exercises, keep the rest of your face, neck, and shoulders relaxed. Keep your focus on breathing.
